TypingMind runs at typingmind.com and works in any modern browser—but you can also install it as a Progressive Web App (PWA) on any platform to get a native app-like experience. Installing as a PWA adds TypingMind to your home screen or desktop, lets you launch it directly without opening a browser first, and gives it a dedicated window that stays out of your browser tab bar. No app store, no download required—just install straight from the browser.

Desktop installation

1

Open typingmind.com in Chrome or Edge

Navigate to typingmind.com in Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.
2

Click the install icon

Look for the install icon in the browser’s address bar—it looks like a monitor with a download arrow (Chrome) or a + icon (Edge). Click it.
3

Confirm installation

Click Install in the prompt that appears. TypingMind will open in its own window and an icon will be added to your Applications folder and Dock.
After installation, TypingMind launches in a standalone window without the browser UI. You can pin it to your Taskbar (Windows) or keep it in your Dock (macOS) for quick access.

Mobile installation

1

Open typingmind.com in Safari

On your iPhone or iPad, open Safari and navigate to typingmind.com.
2

Tap the Share button

Tap the Share icon at the bottom of the screen (a box with an arrow pointing up).
3

Tap 'Add to Home Screen'

Scroll through the share sheet and tap Add to Home Screen.
4

Confirm

Optionally edit the name, then tap Add in the top-right corner. The TypingMind icon will appear on your home screen.
iOS PWA installation only works from Safari. Chrome and other browsers on iOS do not support the “Add to Home Screen” option for PWAs.

What you get after installing

Once installed, the TypingMind PWA:
  • Appears as an icon on your home screen, desktop, or app launcher
  • Opens in a dedicated window (no browser tabs or address bar)
  • Loads the same account and data as the web version—your chats, settings, and API keys are shared
  • Receives the latest updates automatically (PWAs always run the current version)
The PWA uses the same local storage as your browser. If you want your data to persist across devices or protect it from browser cache clears, enable cloud sync by signing in with your email.
