In Typing Mind Custom, Anonymous Chats are chats from Anonymous Users.
When Public Mode is enabled, anyone can use your chat instance, these users will be assigned to one special user id “Anonymous”.
Manage your chat Access Mode
By default, your chat instance is in Private Mode, which means only users added by you can use the chat instance.
By changing the Access Mode, you can control who can use your chat instance as follow:
Access Mode | Private Mode (default) | Authorized Mode | Public Mode |
Add new members via Admin Panel | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Anyone can register new account | No | Yes | Yes (optional) |
Anyone can chat without an account | No | No | Yes |
You can update your Access Mode in Admin Panel → Access Control
Public Mode
In Public Mode, anyone can use your chat instance without an account.
This is convenience you want to setup your chat instance to be a Chat Widget.
Anonymous users using your chat instance in Public Mode can only have temporary chats. This means the chats are not saved and they cannot use chat search, folders, tags, etc.
Set limits in Public Mode
In Public Mode, we highly recommend setting up a strict rate limit in the Usage & Limits page to avoid spam chats that may cost you a lot of API fee.
All anonymous chats will be shown up as coming from one special user: “Public User” in the Usage & Limits page, you can use this Public User to set tag and assign limits to the public users.
